The league announced today that Lamar Odom was named '10-'11 Sixth Man of the Year. Odom received 513 of a possible 585 points, including 96 of 117 first-place votes, from a panel of 117 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the US and Canada to become the first Laker ever to receive the honour.
"It's been a long time coming", an emotional Odom said at a mid-day press conference attended by teammates including Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and his wife, reality-TV star Khloe Kardashian.
Odom averaged 13 points and 7.5 rebounds in all 82 games, 57 in reserve. The versatile 6-foot-11 forward averaged 14.4 points on 53 percent shooting, with 8.7 rebounds and 3 assists in 32.2 minutes.
"I just kept at it - me just doing whatever the team needs to do at the end of the day. To win this award sums up what kind of year I had."
